HRM:Hello Doogie DW: Hello HRM:Mondanál pár szót arról, hogy mi is kötött az Iron Maiden-hez korábban? DW: Úgy gondoltam, hogy bejön a dolog, de nem. 22 nótát rögzí­tettünk abban az időben 2 koncertlemezhez, de én abban az időben ismeretlen voltam és nem voltam túl sok meghallgatáson sem korábban, í­gy ők Blaze-t választották, aki beleillett az elképzeléseikbe. Gazdagabb ember lehettem volna, ha nem hagyom ki azt a lehetőséget, de akkor a Rainbow-ból ki kellett volna szállnom, és az akkoriban nekem nagyon sokat jelentett. HRM: Lehetséges, hogy ezek a felvételek, egyszer hivatalosan is megjelenjenek? DW: Több Maiden tribute lemezen is szerepeltem a buli kedvéért az évek alatt, ezeket meg lehet hallgatni, hogyan is szólhatott volna a Maiden velem. HRM: Kik a kedvenc énekeseid, együtteseid, szeretnél egy tribute albumot magad összehozni? DW: Nem az a fajta vagyok, aki tribute albumot készí­tene, hacsak nem kapnék érte egy kalap pénzt. Pár évvel ezelőtt ez jó szórakozásnak tűnt, de ma ez már nekem elég fárasztó. Ez nem arról szól, hogy valaki az eredeti dalból készí­t valami mást, hanem csupán lemásolják azt. Én inkább a saját dalaimat szeretem megí­rni és azokat felvenni és egy nagyot bulizni Yngwie Malmsteen-al Miamiban. Általában ezeket a tribute lemezeket mindig ugyanazok az emberek készí­tik, mert nem képesek saját zenét szerezni. Ha megkérdezzük ezeket az embereket, hogy inkább egy tribute lemezt készí­tenének vagy saját zenét í­rnának, és azt mondják, hogy tribute-ot, akkor nyí­lván nem mondanak igazat. Az biztos, hogy pár hónapra biztosí­tják a megélhetést ezek és lehetőség van néhány nagyszerű emberrel együtt játszani és énekelni pár dalt, de ebből már elegem van. HRM:Mi a véleményed Bruce Dickinson és Sharon Osbourne vitájáról? DW:Ez nem csupán rossz modor, és nem csak Bruce-al és a Maiden-el kapcsolatos , hanem azok a rajongóknak is rossz érzés, akik elmennek a koncertekre. Maiden fellépett akkor, amikor Ozzy nem tudott a Black Sabbath-al betegség miatt szí­npadra lépni ez mutatja a Maiden szellemiségét és bajtársiasságát. Ha akarták volna, akkor ezt a problémát kezelhették volna testvériesen is. Elég sok szemét dolgot beszéltek az ügy kapcsán, szerintem mindenki tudja, hogy kinek volt igaza és kinek nem. HRM: Szereted az új Deep Purple lemezt? DW: Nem hallottam még a lemezt. HRM: Elmondhatjuk, hogy a Cornerstone elég erős élő koncerteken. Terveztek egy DVD-t kiadni a dupla koncert CD után? DW: Úgy gondolom nagyon erős koncertcsapat vagyunk, és a következő lemez - "Two Tales and One Tomorrow" - turnéján felvesszük a DVD-t is. HRM: A Cornerstone a te csapatod, de úgy tűnik a Malmsteen-el folytatott munkába több energiát fektetsz. Egyetértesz ezzel? DW: Nem, nem értek egyet. Én mindig egyforma energiát fektetek mindenbe amihez nyúlok. Yngwie turnéval eléggé elfoglalt voltam, ezért nem tudtam a Cornerstone-al annyit koncertezni amennyit szerettem volna, de í­rtam 3 lemezt Steen-el. HRM: Mit gondolsz arról, hogy mostanában a régi nagy énekesek a korábbi bandájukkal í­rt nagy dalokat turnéztatják szólóban, gondolok itt például Paul Di Anno-ra, vagy Tony Martin-ra. DW: Mindkettő nagyon nagy énekes, de miért tennénk mi ilyet? HRM: Mikor készül el és jelenik meg az új Cornerstone lemez és mi tudsz mondani az új turnéról? DW: Hamarosan elkészül a lemez, és tavasszal meg is fog jelenni. Ahogy elkezdődik a turné szervezése, a dátumokról is többet tudok majd mondani. Éppen most fejezem be a szövegeket és dallamok utolsó simí­tásait. HRM:Hogy ment a világkörüli turné Malmsteen-al? DW:4 hónapig turnéztunk 2005-ben, és 2006-ban is még keressük a lehetőségeket. A turné nagyszerű volt, rengeteg jó bulit adtunk a Mötley Crüe-vel, a Maiden-el, DIO-val és a Hammerfall-al. A legnagyobb buli 55 000 fős volt! 2 hónapig voltunk az USA-ban, aztán egy hetet Japánban, szóval nagyon melós volt a 2005 és remélem 2006 is í­gy telik majd. HRM: Hány dalt tanultál be a turnéra? DW: 47 dalt tanultam meg a Malmsteen turnéra, ebből nagyjából 15-öt énekeltem el. HRM: Egy rövid kimaradás volt a magyar koncerten, emlékszel esetleg ennek okára? DW: Őszintén mondom nem emlékszem, talán valami erősí­tő probléma lehetett, jó buli volt, totálisan őrült rajongókkal. HRM: Mit gondolsz a Deep Purple reunion-ról amit Ritchie Blackmore vetett fel nemrég? DW: Szerintem Ritchie -nek meg kéne nyernie az ügynek Coverdale-t, Hughes-t, Lord-ot és egy dobost, és elnevezni a bandát MARK 3-nak. Ezért még én is fizetnék, ha megnézhetném egyszer. HRM: Kik azok a zenészek, akikkel szí­vesen játszanál együtt, de még nem volt lehetőséged erre? DW: Tony Iommi-val szeretnék egyszer dolgozni, és szeretnék egyszer Jesus vagy Judas lenni a Jézus Krisztus Szupersztárban. HRM: Mi az álomcsapatod, kik azok akiket szí­vesen elcsábí­tanál a saját csapatodba? DW: Shirley Manson gitáros, Neve Campbell bass, Sienna Miller billentyűs, Ian Paice dobos, mivel tudjuk, hogy a csajok nem jó dobosok! HRM: Hogyan összegeznéd a 2005-ös évet, és mik az álmaid 2006-ra? DW: 2005 különösen izgalmas év volt, rengeteg sok régi baráttal találkoztam és szereztem újakat. Természetesen pár jó barátot is elvesztettem ami mindig szomorú dolog. 2006-ban szeretném folytatni a munkát és turnézni a világ körül és reméljük túléljük majd ezt az évet is. HRM: Találkoztunk veled a Malmsteen buli előtt és beszélgettünk is, a PeCsa körül mászkáltál a parkban. Mindig ilyen közvetlen vagy a rajongókkal? DW: Egy átlagos ember vagyok, akinek izgalmas foglalkozása van és ha az emberek szeretnének valamit mondani vagy kérdezni tőlem, akkor mindig meghallgatom őket vagy válaszolok nekik. Személyes nem szeretem a ROCKSTAR szerepet játszani, azt nem én vagyok és ha csak úgy sétálgatok és nem ismernek fel az emberek, boldog vagyok. Nem tudom magam abba a világba beleképzelni, hogy be vagyok zárva és nem mehetek oda ahova akarok egyedül. Ha Bruce Dickinson megihat egy sört az én báromban és őt nem ismerik fel, akkor megtehetem ezt én is bárhol. HRM: Köszönjük az interjút, Boldog Új Évet kí­vánunk neked és minden álmod váljon valóra! Hello Doogie, Hi Here are the questions: Here are the answers Tell me about please some words about your Iron Maiden story I thought it felt very good but it was not to be.We did 22 songs together for the 2 live albums they had out at the time I was unknown and untested back then, so they went for Blaze, the guy that suited the direction they wanted. I may have been a wealthier man had I got the gig but then I would not have been in Rainbow and that was important for me at the time. Is it possible, that these 'hidden tracks" would be released officially? I did a couple of Maiden tribute albums for fun a few years back so people can check them out to hear what I may have sounded like. Who are your favorite singers and bands? Are you prefering making a tribute album once ? I am kinda done with the tribute album scene unless I get a big bag of money. It was fun some years ago but is quite tiresome now. Its not as if anyone does anything different with the songs, they just replicate the original.... I much prefer writing and recording my own music or having fun in Miami with Yngwie. Its always the same people doing them because they cant get their own music out there. Ask any of them if they would rather do a tribute or original music and if they say a tribute they are not being honest. In truth, tributes paid my bills for a few months and I got to play with some cool people and sing some great songs but ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! What's your oppinion about the scandal between Bruce Dickinson and Sharon Osbourne? Well its just bad manners isnt it, not only to Bruce and Maiden but to the fans who paid good money to come to the shows. Maiden stepped up to the plate when Ozzy couldn't do the shows with Sabbath due to ilness and that showed spirit and camaraderie on Maidens part and a belief on Ozzys part that they could handle it, a oneness with the rock fraternity if you will. But enough shite has been talked about this and everyone know who was right and who was not. Do you like the new Deep Purple album? I have not heard it. We can say the Cornerstone is quite strong in live performance. Do you plan the DVD after having the double live CD? I think we are a very strong live band and we will record a DVD on the next tour when we release the next studio album "Two Tales and One Tomorrow" Cornerstone is your band, but it seems you put more energy with Malmsteen...Do you agree with me? No I dont agree. I put the same energy into everything I do. Yngwie has just been very busy on the touring front and that has meant touring wise Cornerstone has to take a back seat as we cant tour as much as we would like. But I have written 3 albums for Cornerstone with Steen. What do you think about making tour with a former singer with former songs...Paul Di Anno, Tony Martin.... Both amazing singers but why would we do this? The "Knee Tremblers" perhaps When the new Cornerstone album is ready and out and what about the tour? The album will be ready soon and released in the autumn and tour dates are being penciled in as we speak. I dont want to tour in the winter in Europe again. It is to bleedin cold. I am puting the finishing touches to the lyrics and melodies at the moment. How the Malmsteen World Wide Tour was going on? We have been out for 4 months in 05 and are looking at more dates in 06 but thats all I know The tour was fun and we all got on well and played some great shows with Motley Crue, Maiden, Dio, Hammerfall. 55000 was the largest we did. Then we had 2 months in the States and a week in Japan. So it was a busy 05 and I hope we can do the same in 06. How many songs had to learn and practiced during the tour? I learned 47 songs for the Malmsteen tour. Sang about 15. There was a short interruption during the Hungarian gig, do you remember for the cause (maybe technical...)? I honestly cant remember. Probably some amp issue. Good show though. Crazee fans. What do you think about the Deep Purple reunion based on Ritchie guess? I think Ritchie should get Coverdale Hughes Lord and a drummer and call it MARK 3. I would pay to see that. Who are the musicians, you wish to play with, but you still have not had possibilities to do it? I'd like to work with Tony Iommi. I'd like to be Jesus or Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar What is your 'dream band' - who would be in your band if you are allowed to borrow some guys from any other bands? Shirley Manson on guitar and BV's Neve Campbell on Bass, Sienna Miller on Keys and Ian Paice on Drums as we know girls are generally not very good drummers How do you summerize the 2005? And what is your dream for 2006? 2005 was a strangely exciting year filled with meeting old friends and making new ones. Of course we lost some good friends and that is always sad. For 2006 I want to continue working and touring the world and hope that we all survive We met you before the Malmsteen Hungarian gig when you were walking around the building...Are you always so familiar and direct to the fans? Well I am just a regular guy doing a facinating and exciting job and if people have got something to say or a question to ask I always try to listen and answer. I personally dont buy into the ROCKSTAR thing, its just not me and if I can walk around and not be recognised then I am happy with that. I cant imagine what it must be like to be trapped in a world where you cannot move around freely.
